The Challenge

Mama’s Kitchen Press came to us with a site that had heart—but needed help delivering on function and form. While the content carried deep cultural significance and care, the site layout lacked clarity, polish, and ease of navigation. It wasn’t fully reflective of the press’s growing vision or accessible to the wide range of audiences they hoped to reach. The challenge was to preserve the warmth, intimacy, and communal spirit of Mama’s Kitchen while elevating the overall experience—making space for storytelling, visibility, and long-term growth without compromising its grassroots charm.

The Goal

Our mission was to design a digital home that felt as inviting as the press’s mission itself—clean, soulful, and rooted in storytelling. We aimed to spotlight the published works, uplift contributors, and articulate the mission clearly to new readers, writers, and supporters. The new site needed to be intuitive to browse, easy to update, and flexible enough to evolve alongside the press—whether that meant showcasing upcoming releases, adding an events calendar, or creating a submission portal in the future.

Result

The Results

The finished site is a visual and structural reflection of Mama’s Kitchen: heartfelt, grounded, and purposefully designed. We introduced a refreshed color palette and typography that honors the press’s identity while enhancing readability and accessibility. The homepage now leads with story and impact—guiding visitors through the books, the contributors, and the community-centered ethos behind it all. The site is responsive across all devices, built on a scalable backend that empowers the team to grow without friction. It’s not just a redesign—it’s a relaunch into a new chapter, created to nourish both legacy and future voices.
